English Beaumont - Adams Double Action Percussion Revolver

large frame double action English Beaumont - Adams percussion revolver. Many revolvers of this type were used by Confederate officers during the Civil War. The revolver was manufactured by London Armoury Company in England, as indicated by markings stamped on the left side of the barrel and frame, "L.A.C". This company was the largest single producer of imported handguns for the Confederacy. Thousands of such revolvers were shipped from London through the Federal blockade to numerous Southern ports. The revolver is exceptionally well made and nicely finished with bright blue and light floral style engraving. The top of the cylinder bridge displays following retailer's address, "Manton & Co. Gun Makers, London & Calcutta". Several English proofs are stamped on the frame, barrel and cylinder. Octagonal barrel. Five shot cylinder. Barrel length: 5.75 inch. Very nice one piece hardwood grip with diamond checkering. The revolver has all blue finish, except for the hammer and trigger that have polished steel finish. Manufactured without the lanyard ring.
