Remington New Model Police
« on: February 26, 2013, 06:20:37 PM »

Remington New Model Police, serial number 157. It has a 4-1/2 barrel and is .36 caliber.  It is one of the most ornamented examples of this model engraved with rare etched cylinder.  Finishes are blue on barrel, silver on frame, casehardened hammer and lever and it has ivory grips.  It was made about 1865 and is one of 18,000 made between 1865 and the early 1870s.

With its low number and special finishes had to have been some sort of presentation or exhibition piece.
