Serial #: 287 Manufacturer: Unknown
Model: Percussion Type: Revolver
Gauge: 34 Percussion Catalog Page: 174
Barrel Length: 3 inch octagon
Finish: blue
Grip: walnut
Description: This is a mid-20th Century produced copy of a Colt Paterson Belt Model Revolver No. 2. This revolver has a medium size

frame, early square-back five-shot cylinder, and 3 inch .34 caliber barrel. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "- Patent Arms M'g.

Co. Paterson, NJ. Colt's Pt." reading from the breech to the muzzle. The cylinder is roll-stamped with the centaur scene. The hammer has

a smooth spur. The serial number, "287" is stamped on the face of the trigger. The straight walnut grips have beveled heels. The

revolver is accompanied by a brass capper which is similar to the cappers furnished with Colt Paterson revolvers. The face of the capper

lid has a raised boss and is inscribed with two rings. The capper is unmarked and lacks the ring at the top, which was a feature of Colt

Paterson cappers. Samuel Colt and his Patent Arms Manufacturing Co. manufactured approximately 3,200 revolvers at the Paterson, New

Jersey factory between 1837 and 1840. The Colt Paterson revolvers were the first successful mass-produced revolving pistols and paved

the way for subsequent Colt designs beginning with the Colt Walker Model revolver in 1847. The survival rate of Colt Paterson revolvers

is very low and any example is rare and very desirable, thus making this copy a good substitute in ones collection!.
