Colt Belt Model "Flared Gripped" Paterson Revolver

Serial #: 593 Manufacturer: Colt
Model: Paterson Type: Revolver
Gauge: 34 Percussion Catalog Page: 98
Barrel Length: 4 3/4 inch octagon Finish: blue
Grip: walnut
Description: This is an extremely rare example of a desirable Paterson No. 3 Belt Model Revolver. Samuel Colt manufactured approximately

450 No. 3 Belt Revolvers between 1837 and 1840. The No. 3 Belt Revolvers were serial numbered with the No. 2 Revolvers and account for

about one-half of the production of the two types. The top barrel flat is marked: "-Patent Arms M'g Co Paterson N-J Colt's Pt.-" reading

from breech to muzzle with arrows at either end of the legend. The cylinder has traces of the original roll-engraved Centaur scene. The

matching serial number, "593", is marked on the interior of backstrap, back of cylinder, back of barrel, inside front of hammer,

cylinder rotation collar, and on the inside of the trigger. All blue finish, brass blade front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted

with smooth walnut grips with the distinctive flared butt.
