Colt Belt Model Paterson No. 3 Revolver

Serial #: 593 Manufacturer: Colt
Model: Paterson Type: Revolver
Gauge: 34 Catalog Page: 270
Barrel Length: 4-3/4 inch octagon
Finish: blue
Grip: walnut
Description: This is an extremely scarce example of a desirable Paterson No. 3 Belt Model Revolver with .34 caliber, five-shot, square

back cylinder, 4-3/4 inch octagon barrel and medium size flared grip. Samuel Colt manufactured approximately 450 No. 3 Belt Revolvers

between 1837 and 1840. The No. 3 Belt Revolvers were serial numbered with the No. 2 Revolvers and account for about one-half of the

production of the two types. The top flat of the revolver barrel is roll-stamped: "-Patent Arms M'g Co Paterson N-J Colt's Pt.-" reading

toward the muzzle with arrows at either end of the legend. The cylinder has traces of the original roll-engraved centaur scene. The

revolver serial number, "593", is visible on the interior of backstrap, back of cylinder, back of barrel, inside front of hammer,

cylinder rotation collar, and on the inside of the trigger. The grips are varnished walnut.
