Nimschke Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver with Thuer Conversion

The engraved and chiseled decoration, with a sculptured grip in Tiffany style, is attributed to Louis D. Nimschke (active about 18501900), an artist often employed by the New York firm of Schuyler, Hartley and Graham, which produced the case for this set. The name of its owner, Benito Valdeavellano, is engraved on the revolver and on the case. It is fitted with a Thuer Conversion for self-contained cartridges.
