Been using these lately and I'm very happy with the ease of use and results. Basically a pea sized ball of Gatofeo #1 that I drop in corn meal. The corn meal dusting makes the pills easy to handle with no sticky mess. They are dropped right on top of the powder charge(sometimes a paper cartridge without a bullet) and the ball rammed home. If shooting right away I don't use a card wad to separate  the lube and powder. These pills, for me, are a lot easier to make than the wool wads(which do work well) which have to punched out and soaked in lube in whatever manner is easy for you.
I make the pills by pouring melted Gatofeo #1 into a lube ribbon extruder which produces a 1/4" X 1/2" ribbon. I then cut off a small piece, roll it in my fingers to a rough ball shape and drop them in the corn meal. This makes carrying the pills--in the field or Cowboy match, etc.--convenient as they are easy to handle and don't stick together. I just put the finished pills in some type of small container such as a shoe polish can or Altoids tin and off you go. The corn meal dusting also seems to help keep the pills from drying out. I have more testing to do in that regard, but so far some of the pills are more than three months old and working fine. I found it expedient to slightly vary the size of the pill between the 36's and 44's. Except for the Dragoons-- I just drop two of anything down that cavernous chamber. :)

Like I have long seen this issue. This is a good example. With this interesting debate again.

None of the blue books list the AHF Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine commemoratives. They don't do a good job on the North and South or Blue and Grey 3rd Model Dragoons either - among other noticeable omissions.  I've got Blue Books back to number 3.

The ďNinth Edition of the Blue Book of Modern Black Powder ArmsĒ came out late 2016 and is very good for pricing.  Itís missing some stuff though and I donít think the one you got is in there though. Some of the commemoratives just show issue prices too. If you donít have it you should be able to find it on Amazon.

Yep, $737 was total.  He threw in the shipping.  I don't think he expected it to go that high.  I only paid $599 for the one I bought in January.  Original issue price was $1995 in 1984.  Dennis' 2nd Gen price guide #6 (2011) valued them at $1150.  Sure wish he'd get an update out.

I was initially in. Up to around $600 I think. So you got it at $737 + shipping. Iím sure they cost more than that originally. Wanted that Colt Blackpowder plain blued Paterson that Ozarkhill had for sale. Almost had him talked into $1400 straight up but he wanted to list it. It then went for $1750. I got his engraved one with the glass top case for $2k, so didnít want to pay that much for plain one. Now I relize how much rarer the plain ones are.

Happy New Year.  You are correct that I am always buying when it comes to models I haven't got yet - and sometimes duplicates if the price is right.

Were you bidding on the silver plated AHF engraved Navy on Gunbroker?  Ken44-40 is my GB alias.
