Hello from England
« on: June 19, 2013, 12:57:15 AM »

I am a gun collector from the UK.  I collect mostly British and American pistols from the 1850s to 1940s.  I have a substantial collection of English percussion revolvers.  All antique firearms can be purchased and owned without any kind of licence.  Section 58(2) of the 1968 Firearms Act says that "No part of this act shall apply to an antique firearm kept as a curio or ornament".  But unlike the US, the law does not define what an antique is.  There is non statutory guidance that says that any muzzle loader, obsolete ignition system or obsolete centre fire cartridge that is made before 1939 is an antique.  I am also licensed to collect non-antique vintage arms and am a member of various arms collecting societies in the UK.

It is good to see a forum dedicated to the collecting of percussion revolvers.

A small subset of my collection may be seen here:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/tranter54bore

hello and welcome

I'd love to post some of your collection especially any English made percussion revolvers. They are some beautiful designs that sadly are underappreciated today as they were never reproduced like the Colts, Remingtons, and a few others and are no as well known outside of the collector market

Thanks.  I'd like to post some pictures of my collection but I am limited to pictures of maximum size 128KB, which means I would have to downgrade all of my pictures to fit.  Is there anything that can be done about that?

Do you have many Tranters or Adams?
