Austrian Colt Brevete 1849 Pattern Single Action Percussion Revolver

Austrian Colt Brevete 1849 pattern single action percussion revolver. There is following very faint wording on the top of the barrel, "E. Syck in Salzburg" (please, see pictures). The revolver was most likely sold on the commercial market. It is beautifully engraved in floral motifs (on the frame, cylinder, hilt, hammer, trigger guard and on the upper part of the barrel). The revolver is very well made. Elongated grip frame for a better hold. Circular trigger guard. All steel construction with nicely polished and finished walnut grips. Octagonal barrel. Six shot cylinder. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights. Barrel length: 5.25 inch. The revolver was manufactured with no provision for the lanyard ring.

Hi
Good question I don't know. It almost looks like a spring of some type. Maybe someone else knows?
